Though birth control is necessary, few people focus on it.
Throughout the world there are millions of unwanted pregnancies each and every year. A portion of the babies of these unwanted pregnancies are given birth to and raised to be productive members of society. Some of these unwanted pregnancies result in a child that is mistreated, malnourished or are simply still born due to any number of reasons.
Others result in adoption which is one of the most wonderful and selfless acts that one person can do. Many of these unwanted pregnancies result in abortion which is a whole different topic and one that we do not want to cover here.
Lots of types to choose from
Birth control can be found in a number of different forms and types. There are a number of products on the market that are for females to use, males to use and for the couple to use together. Both parts of the couple should take it upon themselves to provide whatever they can to help prevent the birth of child that is not intended. Women can choose from tons of options for their birth control made by numerous manufacturers. The best way for a woman to decide which type of birth control she wants to use is for her to talk to her doctor about her options. Each type has its own drawbacks and benefits. For example, some birth control techniques require only one dosage every few months and some require dosage every day. While many types for women involve some form of medication or chemical others just require a physical product to be used each and every time intercourse is had. We will point out a few of the methods and cover them later on in this website.
Understand your choices
One of the most popular forms of birth control is the pill. “The Pill” as it is often called has been around for many years and comes under many name brands to choose from. The pill must be taken daily and will distribute hormones throughout the woman’s body preventing her from getting pregnant. The birth control pill can have side effects for some women so it is not the answer for everyone. Another chemical form of birth control is the shot. There is an injection that women can receive regularly that will deliver the medication to prevent pregnancy just as the pill only not as often.
There are non prescription devices that can be used by women to prevent pregnancy. A woman can use a spermicidal product which is usually used in conjunction with other birth control methods. A lady can use a cervical cap, a contraceptive sponge, an IUD and even a patch.
On the other side of the equation the man has pretty much one option of birth control to bring to the table and those are condoms. Not only is a condom an inexpensive and easy to use form of birth control but they are portable and very effective at preventing unwanted pregnancies. The condom can also do things that the other methods cannot do. In addition to stopping sperm from entering the woman during intercourse it can even prevent many sexually transmitted diseases from being transmitted from one party to the other. Most of the methods just kill the sperm or prevent them from fertilizing the woman’s egg but the condom actually stops the sexual organs from touching completely. Another great thing about condoms is that the man or the woman can bring them along and take responsibility for the man wearing it.
What happens if birth control fails
If you fail to use birth control or have a feeling that what you used was ineffective you are able to find out pretty quickly if your intercourse resulted in pregnancy. On the market these days there are lots of pregnancy tests to choose from. One of the options is to go to the doctor to have them administer the pregnancy test and the other is to do it yourself at home with one of the many over the counter pregnancy tests. Lots of these tests have been shown to be quite accurate and many of them work only a few days after a child is conceived. If you are pregnant were not planning on it the sooner you know about it the better and quicker you be able to plan what to do about it.
Regardless of the type of birth control you and your partner choose to use just be sure you use one. If you are wanting a child then have all the fun you want but if you are not planning on having one then do yourself and the child a favor and invest the time, effort and dedication to an effective birth control program.
